Job description

O'Neal Steel has an opening for a (3rd shift) Loader at our Ambridge, PA facility.

The Loader will load and unload material within a warehouse. Utilizes hand trucks, forklifts, overhead cranes, conveyors, spotter trucks and trailers or other handling equipment to move material to and from trucks or trains and within the storage facility. Has knowledge of commonly used practices, and procedures. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

What you will be doing:

  • Operate a wide variety of material handling equipment including, but not limited to, overhead crane (95%), stacker crane, forklift, side loader, yard dog, etc.
  • Critical thinking skills to allow for the required planning and problem-solving.
  • Safely load multi-stop loads for customer delivery.
  • Strong understanding of load balancing to meet DOT weight regulations for legal and over dimensional loads.
  • Verify the accuracy of material, quantity, packaging and other special instructions for each order shipped.
  • Performs loading duties 70% of the time or greater.
  • Use a variety of hand tools including, but not limited to, grinder, bander, drill, hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, etc.
  • High quality work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of their position.
  • Learn and retain a large range of product knowledge, standard handling and rigging procedures across all products.
  • Accurately read a tape measure.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area.
  • Work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Shift Schedule: (3rd Shift) Sunday-Thursday, 10pm-6am. Overtime will be required as needed.
