Job description

Everett Ship Repair is the Pacific Northwests Premier Ship Repair Facility. Founded in 2019, Everett Ship Repair offers vast ship repair capabilities from its facility in Everett, Washington, including repair, maintenance, and conversion services for any type of commercial vessels, with focus on commercial workboats and passenger vessels. With the US Navy as our neighbor, it is no secret that we are in aggressive pursuit of earning their business as we grow our footprint, skills, and profile in this market. With impressive dry-docking capacity, and an opportunity to be part of an emerging team of industry veterans and highly skilled tradesmen, ESR strives to continuously improve our repair and construction methods into efficient and reliable processes. We seek tradesmen who share that view, value learning opportunities, and desire an opportunity to apply their skills in our progressive environment.
We are seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) & Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Welding who will support the QA Department by performing NDT, welding inspections, and quality verification throughout all phases of commercial and government vessel repair and construction. Assigned responsibilities include conducting inspections, documenting results, supporting welder qualification testing, verifying compliance with applicable codes and specifications, and working closely with production to ensure work is completed safely and correctly. As Everett Ship Repair continues to expand its quality capabilities, we are seeking a motivated quality professional who will help strengthen our in-house NDT program, improve welding quality, and support increasingly complex commercial and government projects.
What You Will Do
  • Perform UT, VT, MT, PT, and other qualified nondestructive examinations in accordance with applicable procedures and certification level.
  • Conduct welding inspections to verify compliance with approved welding procedures, drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Inspect completed welds for workmanship, discontinuities, dimensional accuracy, and code compliance.
  • Document inspection results and prepare accurate inspection reports.
  • Coordinate with third-party NDT providers and witness inspections requiring methods beyond current certification.
  • Perform preliminary ultrasonic examinations, when qualified, to identify potential discontinuities before third-party inspections.
  • Review fabrication drawings, weld symbols, specifications, inspection plans, and quality documentation.
  • Verify compliance with NAVSEA Standard Items, ABS Rules, USCG regulations, customer specifications, and other applicable industry standards.
  • Support welder qualification testing, WPS/PQR activities, and welding procedure implementation.
  • Assist with corrective actions and root cause investigations.
  • Maintain inspection records, calibration records, NDT reports, and quality documentation.
  • Support internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in developing Everett Ship Repair's in-house NDT program.
  • Support apprenticeship training through mentoring and technical instruction.
  • Promote a safe work environment and comply with company safety policies.

What You Bring to Our Team
  • High school diploma or equivalent, technical training in welding, NDT, metallurgy, or related field preferred.
  • ASNT Level II certification (or documented classroom training with ability to obtain Level II through required experience hours) in VT, MT, PT, and/or UT.
  • Experience performing welding inspections in fabrication, shipbuilding, heavy industrial, structural steel, or marine environments.
  • Working knowledge of FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW welding processes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and inspection requirements.
  • Knowledge of AWS welding standards and WABO welder qualification testing preferred.
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA, ABS, USCG, or other marine regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and computer skills.

What Would Distinguish You
  • Multiple ASNT Level II certifications (VT, MT, PT, UT).
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • Shipyard or commercial vessel repair experience.
  • Experience supporting Navy or government contracts.
  • Experience qualifying welders and administering welding qualification tests.
  • Experience supporting apprenticeship programs.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.

Benefits:
  • 401(k) and 401(k) matching
  • Health insurance
  • Health savings account
  • Dental insurance
  • Group Life Insurance with Optional supplemental life and disability insurance programs
  • Paid time off
