Material Handler - B-shift

Eaton's ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Material Handler - B-shift. The hours for this position are Monday - Thursday, 3:00 pm - 1:00 am. The hourly rate for this position is 17.50/hour per hour. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What You'll Do

Primary Responsibility: Eaton's Commercial Products and Assemblies division is currently seeking a Material Handler-Forklift Operator to join our team. This position is based out of our Sumter, SC facility. The primary function of this role is to be responsible for providing manufacturing expertise and support in the Shipping area including, but not limited to, allocation of materials, planning, scheduling, verifying, receiving, and shipping in either the Front or Back Storeroom. No relocation benefit is offered for this position.

Essential Functions:

  • Utilize computer and perform cycle counts of components. Analyze cycle count information to determine root cause and corrective action. Resolve all errors by research and auditing of transactions.
  • Operate forklifts and cranes to transport and locate equipment and materials to required areas.
  • Receive, document, store stage and issue all job-related material to satisfy production requirements.
  • Support assembly and fabrication requirements for materials as needed.
  • Package, create and band equipment, parts, materials, products and accessories to minimize damage during shipment or staging.
  • Apply labels, stickers, stencils as required for identification and ease of storage or shipping.
  • Comply with all safety and industrial hygiene requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment in a safe and competent manner. Understand and meet all departmental safety objectives and goals.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance when required to ensure peak performance of all manufacturing equipment.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Forklift and/or crane operation experience to transport and locate equipment and materials to required areas.
  • Broad range of knowledge in materials planning, scheduling, receiving, shipping, and tracking systems.
  • High school diploma or GED required from an accredited institution.
  • Only candidates residing within the immediate area of Sumter (50 miles) will be considered for this position.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Computer literate.
  • Working knowledge of Lean concepts.
  • Knowledge of processes and procedures related to steel and bus fabrication, purchasing, receiving, shipping, and inventory control.
  • Computer skills to include Excel, Word, DMM, AS400, Mapics, Vista, & Outlook.

Must be able to multi-task and balance various demands while achieving goals. Must demonstrate a collaborative style and work effectively in a diverse environment. Must be a self-starter capable of working with minimum supervision and capable of solving various problems as unusual circumstances arise through interfacing with other departments. Ability to deal with both internal and external suppliers in a professional manner. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in teams across plant and corporate entities. Self-motivated and results oriented; strong organizational skills. Exhibit a strong adherence to quality by continually seeking methods of improvement for all functions of the position. Ensure that all products and parts adequately meet Eaton's quality guidelines as they move throughout the production process. Perform quality checks as instructed. Ability to keep assigned work-area clean and organized per 5S standards.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; reach at or above shoulder level; grip; and use hands to handle and feel. The employee is frequently required to walk; stoop; lift; carry; push; pull; and grip. The employee is frequently required to lift/carry up to 35 pounds. The employee is frequently required to push/pull up to or greater than 35 pounds. The vision requirements include far and close vision with depth perception and color discrimination. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to listen and to talk.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to noise and frequently exposed to dust.
