Job Description:

Position Overview:
The Harness Backup Machine Operator & Assembler is responsible for the operation of wire cutting machines, bench terminating equipment, and harness assembly. The primary equipment used includes the Artos and Komax automated cutting machines, TE and Molex bench termination equipment, and ultrasonic wire splicing equipment. The harness assembly would be specific to supporting our new product development projects as needed. The position will spend approximately 40% of the time operating wire cutting machines, 40% of the time bench terminating wires, and 20% assembling new product launch harnesses as needs arise. The mix of work within the role is subject to change based on workloads, daily priorities, and PTO usage within the team.

Essential Functions:

  • Set up, operate, perform preventive maintenance, and clean all related equipment
  • Troubleshoot and perform basic corrective maintenance on machines
  • Become proficient in both the Komax and Artos brands of equipment
  • Become proficient in producing quality crimps using bench termination equipment
  • Prioritize workload to meet daily and weekly production goals
  • Able to become proficient in the Miller lead list sort system
  • Support or NPD efforts through assisting with harness assembly when required, ensuring good quality and timely delivery

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
  • Basic computer skills
  • Willingness to cross-train in other areas as needed
  • Mechanically inclined with problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience with CLS or machine operation is preferred
  • Recent experience in harness assembly is preferred
  • Ability to perform and record quality inspections using calipers and micrometers
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated, disciplined, and reliable
  • Ability to follow set-up instructions and understand product specifications
  • Ability to comprehend MRD, assembly drawings, lead lists, prints, and bills of material
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods (up to 12 hours a day)
  • Willingness to work overtime as required
  • Willingness to occasionally work in other departments based on production needs
