Neurodiagnostic Technologist – Full Time, 40 hrs/wk, 3rd Shift – BMH Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI. Salary: $8,000/month. Sign‑on/Retention bonus available.

• Under general supervision, conduct and provide technical expertise in diagnostic electroencephalographic (EEG), electromyography (EMG), evoked potential, interoperative monitoring (IOM), and other neurological tests.
• Greets patients, escorts them to the testing room, and explains the examination process and procedures.
• Conducts electroencephalograms and other neurological tests, including evoked potentials, electrocerebral silence, nasopharyngeal, brain mapping, sleep deprivation, ambulatory, and long‑term video monitoring EEGs, nerve conduction studies/EMGs, electrooculograms (EOGs), interoperative monitoring (IOM), and other tests for inpatients and outpatients.
• Conducts regular and stat exams in the Neurodiagnostics Department and also in surgery, the emergency room, the patient’s room, and elsewhere; assists physicians with specialized neurological tests when requested.
• Applies electrodes to precisely specified surface areas of the patient’s head and body to obtain measurements such as EEGs, EKGs, EMGs, EOGs, respiratory effort, and oxygen saturation.
• Operates appropriate equipment and recording instruments to conduct and record testing.
• Monitors patient response on recording tracings, oscilloscopes, and other electronic equipment; observes patient response/behavior during testing directly or via closed‑circuit TV.
• Records observational notes on tracings or graphs to eliminate measurements caused by sudden noises, eye opening during sleep tests, body movements, etc.
• Recognizes arrhythmias, abnormal respiratory patterns, and signs of distress; calls physician or emergency personnel if needed.
• Studies data, prepares written reports, and enters information into the computer, detailing tests performed, summarizing data, patient history, and other pertinent information for physician review.
• Maintains the patient testing area in a clean and orderly fashion; disposes of contaminated materials, changes linens, cleans electrodes, and prepares the diagnostics area for the next patient.
• Maintains instruments and equipment in a clean and functional condition; performs minor repairs, calibrations, and adjustments, and reports maintenance needs to the supervisor.
• Maintains up‑to‑date knowledge of developments in neurological diagnostic techniques.
• Demonstrates or oversees on‑the‑job training for newly hired or newly trained Neurodiagnostic Technologists.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service when answering the phone.

• High school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of experience and/or training in neurodiagnostics (EEG, EMG, Evoked Potential, IOM) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be certified/registered in at least one area of Neurodiagnostics (EEG R. EEGT, EMG R. EDT, or IOM CNIM) within 3 years after meeting ABRET, AAET, or ABEM eligibility requirements.
• BLS certification required within six months after hire.
• Direct neurodiagnostic (EEG) experience preferred at this time.
• Ability to operate a personal computer and basic computer programs used in the department.
• Excellent human‑relations skills to deal with patients, physicians, and others, including verbal and written communication, problem solving, and assertiveness.
• Customer‑service orientation.
• Leadership and organization skills, including ability to work independently and take initiative within established procedures.
• Positive attitude.

Shift: 10‑hour night shift (3rd Shift). Full‑time, 40 hours per week. Pay: $8,000 per month. Sign‑on/Retention bonus available.
