Job description

About the Role:

The Corrugator Downstacker on the 3rd shift plays a critical role in the efficient operation of our corrugator production line within the non-durable goods manufacturing sector. This position is responsible for safely and accurately removing and stacking finished corrugated board sheets as they exit the corrugator machine, ensuring continuous workflow and minimizing downtime. The role demands close attention to detail to maintain product quality and adherence to safety standards while working in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will collaborate with maintenance and production teams to promptly address any operational issues and support overall production goals. Ultimately, this position contributes directly to meeting production targets and maintaining the high standards expected by our customers and company.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with corrugator or packaging machinery.
  • Ability to work the 3rd shift schedule reliably.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to follow safety procedures.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience specifically with corrugator downstacking or related packaging machinery.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
  • Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills for logging production data.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the corrugator machine output and efficiently downstack finished corrugated sheets according to production specifications.
  • Ensure proper stacking techniques to prevent damage to products and facilitate smooth handling for subsequent processes.
  • Perform routine inspections of the downstacking area and equipment to identify and report any mechanical issues or safety hazards.
  • Collaborate with maintenance personnel to assist in troubleshooting and resolving equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe working environment during the 3rd shift.
  • Maintain accurate production records and communicate any discrepancies or concerns to shift supervisors.
  • Assist in housekeeping duties to keep the work area clean and organized.

Skills:

The required skills such as mechanical aptitude and adherence to safety protocols are essential for operating and monitoring the downstacking process effectively, ensuring product quality and workplace safety. Physical stamina and attention to detail enable the candidate to manage repetitive tasks and maintain consistent production flow without compromising standards. Preferred skills like forklift operation and familiarity with lean manufacturing enhance the candidate’s ability to contribute to overall operational efficiency and support continuous improvement initiatives. Communication skills facilitate clear reporting of issues and collaboration with maintenance and supervisory teams, which is vital during the 3rd shift when resources may be limited. Basic computer skills assist in accurate documentation and tracking of production metrics, supporting data-driven decision-making and process optimization.
