Job description

The MCPHS School of Optometry seeks an adjunct faculty member to deliver high quality learning experiences and education for students in The Eye and Vision Center. The selected candidate will have responsibilities precepting optometry students providing low vision exams.
  • Precept 3rd and 4th year optometry students in The Eye and Vision Center low vision/vision rehabilitation service
  • Teach 3rd and 4th year optometry students effective, evidence-based methods of patient care based on the MCPHS School of Optometry clinical curriculum
  • Teach 3rd and 4th year students evidence-based methods to treat and manage patients with low vision
  • Objectively grade optometry students based on their clinical knowledge, skills, and patient management

Required:
  • Must have an O.D. degree from an ACOE accredited school or college of optometry
  • Must have a Massachusetts optometry license
  • Must have a Massachusetts controlled substance license
  • Minimum of five year's work experience in low vision / vision rehabilitation if the applicant is not residency trained
  • Residency training is desired
  • Minimum of five year's work experience in low vision / vision rehabilitation if the applicant is not residency trained
  • Commitment to professional optometric education and student success
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Have experience providing primary care and low vision / vision rehabilitation treatment and management
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively, interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents, including healthcare industry professionals).
