Aurora Productions GmbH is a subsidiary of Aurora Deutschland GmbH, headquartered in Berlin. Aurora is one of only three companies licensed in Germany to cultivate medical cannabis for pharmaceutical use.

In May 2022, Aurora opened its first German production facility in the Leuna Chemical Park in Saxony-Anhalt. This state-of-the-art facility produces approximately 1,000 kg of dried cannabis flower per year under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.

For our site in Leuna, we are looking for a:

Manager, Logistics & Inventory (m/w/d)

to strengthen our team.

The Manager, Logistics & Inventory is responsible for the professional operational execution and oversight of EU logistics and distribution activities, including 3PL partnerships, EU inventory control, order fulfilment, and distribution of products within the EU region. This role is critical to ensuring that Aurora’s logistics operations are managed reliably, efficiently, and in line with agreed business priorities within a defined strategic framework.

A key focus is the ability to translate changing business requirements into effective tactical actions, while maintaining high operational standards, service levels, and process discipline. The role works closely with the local production site in Leuna, key 3rd party logistics and manufacturing partners, and internal and external stakeholders to ensure flexible, fast, and professional execution across the European logistics network, with continuous improvement as an important part of day‑to‑day operations.

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Ensure reliable and professional day‑to‑day execution of EU logistics, distribution, inventory control and order fulfilment activities.
  • Manage 3PL partners and external logistics providers to ensure agreed service levels, operational standards, and business requirements are met.
  • Oversee inventory movements between internal and external sites, including import, export, raw material, and finished goods flows.
  • Support timely and accurate KPI/business reporting for EU Supply Chain, Logistics and Distribution activities.
  • Drive operational improvements in logistics processes, service levels, reporting, and 3PL performance.
  • React effectively to changing business requirements within the agreed strategic framework and translate priorities into operational action.
  • Coordinate closely with the production facility in Leuna, Supply Chain, Planning, 3PLs, and other internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and fast issue resolution.
  • Maintain and improve SOPs, change controls, KPIs, and reporting routines to support disciplined execution and continuous improvement.
  • Lead and develop a team, fostering a collaborative and respectful working environment that supports engagement and performance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong operational mindset with a clear focus on execution, reliability, service levels, and process discipline.
  • Strong tactical judgement and ability to prioritize effectively in a dynamic and fast‑changing business environment.
  • Ability to translate business priorities into concrete operational actions with internal teams and external partners.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, especially in time‑sensitive operational situations.

  • ERP, with Sage X3 considered a strong asset
  • Strong Microsoft suite, with focus on Excel, Access, Outlook
  • Fluency in German and English

Education & Experience:

  • Relevant logistics, supply chain, operations, or commercial education / training.
  • University degree in Engineering, Logistics, Business or Technical Discipline. Minimum of 4 years proven professional experience in a comparable role, preferably in the area of Logistics, Inventory, Purchasing.
  • Alternatively: Completed vocational training, in the areas of Logistics, combined with a minimum of 10 years of proven professional experience in a comparable role, preferably in the area of Logistics, Inventory, Purchasing.
  • Proven experience in a People Leader role is an advantage.
  • Significant hands‑on experience in logistics operations, 3PL management, warehousing, distribution, and/or inventory control.
  • Experience managing external service providers against SLAs, KPIs, costs, and operational performance expectations.
  • Experience in regulated or quality-sensitive environments, ideally pharmaceutical distribution, EU‑GMP/GDP, or controlled substances.
  • Practical experience with ERP, WMS, TMS, EDI, inventory, or order fulfilment systems.
  • Experience working in dynamic, fast‑changing operational environments where priorities and requirements shift quickly.
  • Project, Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience is an asset, particularly where applied to operational execution.
  • Valid driver's license required.
