Job description

Senior Landscape Architect / Studio Leader, Partnership Track

M. Hudson Design | Jupiter, FL + Remote Flexibility
High-End Residential Landscape Architecture
Potential Partnership-Track Opportunity

Lead. Design. Build Something Bigger.

M. Hudson Design is seeking a Senior Landscape Architect / Studio Leader to step into a high-impact leadership role within a growing high-end residential landscape design and construction management firm.

This is not a standard Senior Landscape Architect opening. It is a leadership seat for an experienced landscape architect who wants more influence, more autonomy, high-end residential work, team leadership, and the opportunity to help shape the future of a firm.

For the right person, this is a potential partnership-track opportunity. We are looking for someone who can earn increasing leadership, financial upside, and long-term ownership consideration based on performance, cultural fit, client trust, and business impact.

This role is ideal for a senior residential landscape architect who may feel blocked in their current firm, wants a bigger leadership seat, and is ready to help build something meaningful.

Compensation

Base Salary: $135,000 to $150,000
Bonus Potential: Up to $35,000 annually
Long-Term Upside: Potential partnership-track opportunity for the right person, based on performance, leadership, client trust, cultural fit, and business impact

Why This Role Is Different

This role is built for someone who wants to lead, not just design.

You will have entrepreneurial freedom with the support of an established firm, including administrative, marketing, drafting, 3D visualization, and operational support. You will be able to focus on design leadership, client experience, team development, and high-end residential project execution without carrying the full burden of running a firm alone.

You will lead luxury residential projects, own client relationships, guide designers and production support, and help scale the firmโ€™s impact across South Florida.

About M. Hudson Design

M. Hudson Design is a high-end residential landscape design and construction management firm serving South Florida. With more than 25 years of professional design experience, the firm is known for creating thoughtful, refined outdoor environments for luxury homes, waterfront estates, and high-end residential communities.

The firmโ€™s work is built around creativity, communication, execution, and a commitment to delivering an exceptional client experience.

Projects include:

โ€ข Waterfront estates
โ€ข Luxury residential communities
โ€ข High-end private residences
โ€ข Landscape and hardscape design
โ€ข Lighting, irrigation, and drainage planning
โ€ข Construction oversight to protect design integrity

You will be supported by an in-house drafting team, a dedicated 3D graphics team, LiDAR scanning, an instant sales proposal app, and a proprietary online presentation platform.

The Opportunity

As Senior Landscape Architect / Studio Leader, you will serve as a senior design and client leader within the firm. You will manage high-end residential projects from concept through delivery, lead client-facing design conversations, guide internal design resources, and help ensure projects are executed with design excellence, technical discipline, and strong communication.

This role requires someone who can think beyond drawings. The right person will bring design taste, construction understanding, business maturity, accountability, and the ability to represent the firm with affluent, detail-oriented private clients.

You will be expected to lead with ownership, solve problems proactively, communicate clearly, and help build the systems, team, and client experience needed for the firmโ€™s next stage of growth.

Key Responsibilities

โ€ข Lead high-end residential landscape architecture projects from concept through final documentation
โ€ข Serve as the primary design and client-facing point of contact for assigned projects
โ€ข Own the design vision, project direction, and client experience
โ€ข Lead and mentor designers, drafters, 3D specialists, consultants, vendors, and production support
โ€ข Conduct in-person and virtual client presentations with confidence and polish
โ€ข Manage project timelines, deliverables, communication, and design quality
โ€ข Collaborate with operations and construction partners to ensure seamless project execution
โ€ข Review plans, drawings, documentation, and design details for quality and accuracy
โ€ข Support budget alignment through thoughtful design management and client communication
โ€ข Bring accountability, follow-through, and problem-solving to complex client and project situations
โ€ข Help strengthen the firmโ€™s design process, client experience, and leadership structure
โ€ข Contribute to the long-term growth, reputation, and business impact of the firm

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a senior-level landscape architect who has strong residential design ability, client-facing maturity, leadership capacity, and the ambition to grow into a larger role.

The ideal candidate has experience working with high-end residential clients and understands the level of communication, taste, discretion, urgency, and accountability required when serving affluent private homeowners.

This person should be comfortable leading conversations, making decisions, managing details, holding others accountable, and representing the firm professionally.

Required Qualifications

โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s or Masterโ€™s degree in Landscape Architecture
โ€ข 7+ years of professional landscape architecture experience preferred
โ€ข Strong high-end residential, estate-level, or luxury residential design experience
โ€ข Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills
โ€ข Experience managing design projects from concept through execution
โ€ข Proven leadership ability with designers, consultants, vendors, contractors, or production teams
โ€ข Strong design taste and understanding of construction practicality
โ€ข High level of accountability, organization, follow-through, and ownership
โ€ข Ability to manage deadlines, client expectations, and project complexity
โ€ข Comfort working with affluent, detail-oriented private clients

Preferred Qualifications

โ€ข Florida Landscape Architecture license
โ€ข PLA, RLA, ASLA, or license-eligible background
โ€ข Knowledge of South Florida plant material, site conditions, climate, and construction practices
โ€ข Experience with waterfront estates, private residences, or luxury residential communities
โ€ข Experience owning, managing, or helping grow a design practice
โ€ข Budgeting, financial management, or business development exposure
โ€ข Experience mentoring or managing a design team
โ€ข Proficiency in AutoCAD, LandFX, Adobe Suite, SketchUp, Lumion, or related design tools

Who This Role Is For

This role may be a fit if you:

โ€ข Want more leadership and influence than your current role offers
โ€ข Are motivated by high-end residential design and private client work
โ€ข Want to help build and scale a design team
โ€ข Enjoy leading client relationships and guiding project vision
โ€ข Think like an owner, not just a designer
โ€ข Are ready for more autonomy, accountability, and long-term upside
โ€ข Want a potential path toward partnership, earned through performance, trust, leadership, and business impact

Who This Role Is Not For

This role is likely not a fit if you:

โ€ข Prefer to only produce drawings and not lead clients or teams
โ€ข Do not want leadership responsibility
โ€ข Are looking for a guaranteed partnership without first proving fit and impact
โ€ข Prefer purely commercial, public-sector, or municipal work
โ€ข Are not comfortable working with high-end residential clients
โ€ข Avoid accountability, difficult conversations, or project ownership

Benefits

โ€ข Health, dental, and vision insurance
โ€ข Paid time off accrued annually
โ€ข Annual cost of living increases
โ€ข Hybrid flexibility with remote work options
โ€ข Long-term leadership growth opportunity
โ€ข Potential partnership-track path for the right person

Equal Opportunity Employer
