Job description

Bradken is a global manufacturer of custom-engineered products and solutions for the resources sector. Our products operate in some of the toughest mining environments, where performance, reliability and practical engineering support matter.

We are seeking a Design Engineer to support the development, improvement and customisation of Bradken's mining equipment product lines, with a primary focus on Crawler Systems for electric rope shovels and hydraulic excavators.

This is a hands-on mechanical design role suited to someone who enjoys detailed engineering work, product problem-solving and seeing designs move from concept through to manufacture and field use.

About the role

You will work across product design, reverse engineering, modelling, drafting, simulation and technical documentation.

With strong design judgement and practical problem-solving skills, you will support new product development, product updates and customer-specific designs across Crawler Systems, Buckets, Ground Engaging Tools and other mining products.

You will:

Create and update 3D models, detailed drawings and design documentation.

Support reverse engineering, product improvements and new concept design.

Complete analysis, simulation and technical checks to support safe, reliable product design.

Work with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to ensure designs can be built, supplied and supported effectively.

Support field evaluations and product reviews through site and manufacturing visits when required.

Capture product data, specifications and design changes in Bradken's Product Lifecycle Management system.

Provide technical input to internal teams on product performance, design intent and manufacturability.

Contribute to quality, safety and continuous improvement across engineering activities.

This role is primarily office or shop-based, with some travel to customer and manufacturing sites. Travel is expected to be around 10-20%.

About you

You will bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in mechanical design, product design, reliability engineering or product development.
  • Experience in mining equipment, construction equipment, heavy manufacturing or a similar industrial environment.
  • Strong capability in 3D CAD, detailed drafting and engineering analysis.
  • Experience working with manufactured products, design changes and technical documentation.
  • Ability to work with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and commercial teams.
  • A current driver's licence and ability to travel locally and regionally.
  • Spanish language capability is highly preferred, and French language capability would be advantageous.

Experience with Siemens NX, ANSYS, Siemens Teamcenter PLM or 3D scanning will be highly regarded.

Knowledge of surface mining equipment, crawler systems, manufacturing processes, ISO 9001, mine site requirements and MSHA or relevant regional mine hazard training will also be valued.

Applicants must currently be authorised to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Bradken is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa or other employer-supported work authorisation process for this role.

Why join Bradken

This role gives you the chance to stay close to the field, work on real mining equipment challenges and contribute to product improvements that matter to customers.

You will be part of a global business where engineering, customer focus and practical problem solving come together.

If you are interested in joining a team that is making a significant impact in the industry, we invite you to submit your application, along with your resume and a concise cover letter outlining why this position aligns with your career aspirations. Shortlisting for candidates will commence immediately.
