What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a 3D Jewelry Designer working remotely, and why are they important?

To thrive as a 3D Jewelry Designer remotely, you need a strong background in jewelry design principles, creativity, and proficiency in 3D modeling, often supported by a degree in design or related field. Mastery of design software such as Rhino, MatrixGold, or ZBrush, as well as familiarity with rendering tools and CAD/CAM systems, is typically required. Excellent communication, time management, and self-motivation are valuable soft skills that help you collaborate with clients and teams from a distance. These competencies ensure the delivery of innovative, precise designs that meet client expectations and enable efficient, independent work in a remote environment.

What is 3D jewelry design and how does remote work in this field function?

3D jewelry design involves using specialized computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed digital models of jewelry pieces. Remote 3D jewelry designers work from their own locations, collaborating with clients and manufacturers through online communication and file sharing. This allows designers to produce, revise, and deliver intricate designs without being physically present, making the field accessible to talent worldwide. The final digital models can be used for rendering, prototyping, or direct manufacturing via 3D printing or casting.

How does remote 3D jewelry design work, and what are the main collaboration tools used in this role?

Remote 3D jewelry designers typically use specialized CAD software to create detailed models and renders, often collaborating closely with clients, sales teams, and manufacturers through digital platforms. Communication and feedback are managed via video calls, project management tools, and shared cloud storage to ensure designs meet specifications and brand standards. Regular updates and virtual meetings are common, helping to maintain alignment throughout the design and production process. Familiarity with cloud-based collaboration tools and strong self-management skills are key to thriving in this environment.

3D Computer Vision Engineer (Remote)

Toggle Robotics

Full-time

Job description

OverviewToggle is a venture-backed robotics and software company building technology for the construction and fabrication industries, with a globally distributed team across the U.S. and Europe. We have deployed robotic systems in real-world rebar production and are now building a new category of industrial software: automated feature inspection and dimensional verification for high-mix fabrication. We've validated our sensing and verification stack in rebar and are expanding into broader fabrication environments (metal, glass, GFRC, wood), where quality control remains manual and inconsistent. We're looking for a 3D Computer Vision Engineer on a contract basis to help shape software that turns raw 3D scan data into reliable, production-grade measurements and pass/fail decisions in real-world environments.
What you'll do
  • Develop pipelines for:
    • Point cloud processing, filtering, and denoising
    • Scan-to-CAD alignment (ICP + feature-based methods)
    • Feature extraction and primitive fitting (planes, edges, holes, slots, chamfers, fillets)
    • Dimensional measurement, tolerance evaluation, and per-point deviation field computation
  • Translate raw geometry into clear inspection outputs (pass/fail, deviations, annotations)
  • Generate per-point deviation heatmaps for visual review in the 3D viewer
  • Handle calibration, drift, noise, and incomplete data
  • Ensure robustness across materials, lighting, and shop-floor conditions
  • Work directly with QC managers on the shop floor to validate and iterate
  • Ship working software on a short feedback loop prototype, test in the field, harden
  • Support live customer deployments
    • Help define how UI/UX is optimized for operators
    • Contribute to end-to-end workflows, not just isolated algorithms
Who You Are

You think in geometry, not just models, and care deeply about accuracy, robustness, and repeatability. You're comfortable moving from research to production and don't get stuck chasing perfect theoryyou ship working systems, learn from real-world data, and iterate quickly.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or related field
  • Strong experience in 3D computer vision / geometry processing
  • Proficiency in Python; C++ a strong plus
  • Experience shipping production-quality computer vision or measurement pipelines (not just research code)
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Real sensor data (not just simulated or academic datasets)
    • Point cloud libraries (PCL, Open3D, or similar)
    • Registration (ICP, feature-based alignment)
    • Geometric primitive fitting (RANSAC, circle/cylinder/plane fitting)
    • Sensor calibration and depth systems
Nice to have
  • Inspection, metrology, or manufacturing systems experience
  • Parsing CAD models (DXF, STEP) and aligning scan data to CAD geometry
  • Deployment of systems into production environments
  • Robotics or industrial automation background
Why Toggle
  • Work on unsolved problems in the physical world and built environment
  • Define and build new systems used directly in factory and construction pre-fab production
  • Human centric with a priority on safety and usability
  • High ownership and fast iteration
  • Small, technical, global and collaborative team

Toggle is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply.
