DRA Global Limited is an international, multi-disciplinary engineering, project delivery, and operations management group, predominantly focused on the mining, minerals, and metals industry.

The Group has an extensive track record spanning almost four decades across a wide range of commodities. Our teams have deep expertise in the mining, minerals, and metals processing industries, as well as related non-process infrastructure such as water and energy solutions.
DRA operates across all major mining regions with offices in Africa and the Middle East, North and South America, the USA, and Asia-Pacific.

We are currently seeking a 3D Model Coordinator (also referred to as a BIM Coordinator) to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. This position plays a key role in producing, managing, and integrating high-quality 3D models across all engineering disciplines, helping drive accuracy, collaboration, and efficient design delivery on complex mining and industrial projects.

Responsibilities

Technical Expertise

  • Translate engineering input, design packs, and conceptual layouts into accurate 3D models.
  • Integrate models from all engineering disciplines, ensuring alignment and coordination.
  • Maintain and update models throughout the project lifecycle, modifying as required by engineers or project needs.
  • Use Autodesk tools (AutoCAD, Navisworks, Vault) to produce models, perform clash detection, and generate reports.
  • Work with point cloud/scan data, and develop 4D models, fly-throughs, and visual renderings.
  • Apply knowledge of design standards, safety in design, plant layout, and material handling systems.
  • Coordinate vendor data, equipment models, and support multi-discipline reviews.
  • Conduct and facilitate weekly model reviews with engineering and client teams.
  • Manage clash detection workflows, generate reports, and follow up on resolution actions.

Project & Budget Management

  • Monitor and manage man-hour usage for modeling tasks.
  • Ensure model accuracy, version control, and alignment with project schedules.
  • Track progress and report modeling deliverables and status to the Design Office Lead.
  • Support effective model governance, version control, and file/data structure integrity.

Quality

  • Ensure that models meet client, project, and DRA standards.
  • Apply rigorous self-checking protocols to minimize errors and optimize quality.
  • Maintain clarity, data integrity, and accuracy in model content and structure.
  • Help uphold QA/QC and ISO-related requirements as applicable.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Interface regularly with project engineering leads and cross-discipline design teams.
  • Share information using BIM platforms and ensure seamless model handover.
  • Identify and resolve modeling or coordination issues proactively.
  • Communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally across all project phases.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in drafting, design technology, or engineering โ€“ required
  • 10โ€“15 yearsโ€™ experience in 3D modeling or BIM coordination โ€“ required
  • Strong background working in EPCM, mining, or heavy industrial project environments โ€“ required
  • Experience with AutoCAD 3D, Navisworks Manage, and point cloud scan data โ€“ required
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards โ€“ advantageous

Physical Requirements:

While performing duties of this job, you may be required to stand, sit in a stationary position 50% of the time, alternate between sitting and standing, push/pull as necessary, reach overhead or below shoulder level, kneel, squat, or stoop.

May be required on occasion to lift and carry items such as files, documents, or small packages, typically up to 10 -20 pounds.
