Job Summary Under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician assists with receiving, preparing, packaging, and distributing medications. Responsibilities also include performing non-discretionary tasks such as inventory removal, counting, pouring, mixing, labeling, and dispensing medications in compliance with state and federal regulations, organizational policies, and patient safety standards. Occasional driving for delivery of medications or supplies may be required. The Pharmacy Technician supports 340B program integrity and performs other duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations.

Essential Duties

Input patient demographics and insurance information, type prescription labels, process medication refills, and submit billing claims and authorization requests.

Label and package injectable medications, ancillary supplies, and oral/topical medications in accordance with patient orders.

Prepare shipping documentation, coordinate shipments and confirm deliveries with patients.

Reconcile shipments against packing slips and receive and unpack medications.

Perform routine daily and monthly cleaning and disinfection of the IV room in accordance with USP <797> requirements and established company policies and procedures.

Provide exceptional customer service through verbal, written and in-person communication.

Required Education/Experience

Active California Technician License in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy

High School Diploma or equivalent

Demonstrated skill, knowledge, and ability to successfully perform assigned duties

Minimum of one (1) year of related outpatient, ambulatory, or hospital experience

Ability to lift and move inventory and supplies (up to 20 lbs)

High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)

IV compounding experience

Knowledge of USP <797> and <800>

Experience working with Epic and Pyxis

Experience with the 340B Program

Bilingual in Spanish

Licensure/Certification

Basic Life Support (or obtain within first three months of hire).
