United Way Miami is looking for an Infant Toddler Teacher who will provide a safe and nurturing environment for children that encourages their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development for children 0 to 36 months. The focus of our work is to provide comprehensive high-quality early care and education to low-income families living in this area.


The ideal candidate understands concepts around Visible Thinking, Multiple Intelligence, Dual Language, Inclusion, Early Literacy strategies, and Reflective Supervision.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Teacher/Child Interactions

  • Teachers are expected to complete daily observations of children and create daily experience plans that build on childrenโ€™s prior experiences.
  • Encourage and model appropriate behavior and expectations.
  • Teachers are responsible for capitalizing on opportunities to help children build vocabulary, by asking the children a series of follow-up questions to get a deeper understanding from the children.

Program

  • In collaboration with others in the program, make decisions daily on materials, activities, and environments that provide a balance that supports the childโ€™s learning.
  • Responsible for the observation, and documentation of each childโ€™s health, behavior, growth, and development.
  • Supervise children, following all safety and health rules for the eight children in the classroom.
  • Keep the environment safe, clean organized, and accessible to children.
  • Complete appropriate documentation to report incidents and accidents.

Requirements:

Education Requirement: High School Diploma or GED and Florida Department of Children and Family (DCF) 45-hour child care training requirement completed.
