Approximately 25 hours per week

Beat the Heat:
Work year-round in Door Tech’s air-conditioned manufacturing plant. This is a consistent morning schedule that leaves your afternoons open.

Compensation:
  • $13 per hour plus incentive pay during the paid performance evaluation and initial training.
  • After qualification, this position is paid on a piece-rate basis.
  • The production standard is designed to provide earnings of approximately $15 - $18 per hour for an employee meeting expected speed and quality standards.
  • Faster production can result in higher earnings, provided all completed work meets quality requirements.
  • This is a true production-based position. Continued employment depends on meeting established safety, quality, attendance, and production standards.

This is a good opportunity for someone who likes measurable goals, repetitive hands-on work, and the ability to increase earnings through efficient, high-quality production.

About Door Tech:
Door Tech is a family-owned manufacturer in Lexington, North Carolina, specializing in high-quality aluminum storm and screen doors. We combine established product designs with hands-on American manufacturing and a strong focus on quality, productivity, and teamwork.

Position Overview:
The Glass Glazing & Door Packing Associate will learn three important parts of our production process. Training will progress from glass glazing to packing completed doors and then assembling large glass inserts.
The work involves safely handling glass, working with flexible rubber glazing material, packing completed doors, and fitting aluminum frame components around glass inserts. All three production tasks are paid on a piece-rate basis after qualification.

What You Will Learn:
1. Glass Glazing:
  • Safely handle individual pieces of glass weighing approximately 25 pounds.
  • Wrap flexible rubber glazing material around the edges of the glass.
  • Ensure the glazing is installed evenly and fits correctly.
  • Inspect the glass for scratches, chips, cracks, and other defects.
  • Place completed glazed glass in the appropriate production area.
2. Door Packing:
  • Learn the correct packing process for completed storm and screen doors.
  • Safely lift, move, and pack doors weighing up to approximately 45 pounds.
  • Protect finished doors from scratches and shipping damage.
  • Verify that each door has the correct components and packaging.
  • Maintain an efficient work pace while meeting packaging-quality standards.
3. Large Glass Insert Assembly:
  • Fit aluminum frame sections around glazed glass.
  • Carefully knock or press the aluminum components into position without damaging the glass.
  • Install small clips in the corners to hold the completed insert together.
  • Check the completed insert for proper fit, alignment, appearance, and strength.
  • Place acceptable completed inserts in the designated production area.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Follow all glass-handling and workplace safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate counts of acceptable completed pieces.
  • Identify and report damaged glass, defective materials, or quality problems.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of glass hazards.
  • Prevent scratches, breakage, and damage while maintaining an efficient pace.
  • Work independently after completing training.
  • Assist with related production work when needed.

Requirements:
  • Dependable and able to report to work by 7:00 a.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Comfortable working in a piece-rate position where earnings are based on acceptable completed production.
  • Able to repeatedly handle approximately 25-pound pieces of glass.
  • Able to lift, move, and pack completed doors weighing up to approximately 45 pounds.
  • Comfortable safely working around glass and breakable materials.
  • Able to stand and perform repetitive physical work throughout a five-hour shift.
  • Able to use both hands to fit, wrap, press, clip, and assemble materials.
  • Able to understand work orders and basic written instructions in English.
  • Strong attention to quality and detail.
  • Able to develop and maintain an efficient production rhythm.
  • Manufacturing experience is helpful but not required.
