2nd shift is Mon - Fri 2pm - 10:30pm. Shift diff - 10%

Location/Division Specific Information:
Our Hillsboro site produces world-class electron microscopes used by scientists and engineers to drive innovation around the globe. This role works to produce-high quality components used in the world's finest tools used by researchers like Nobel prize winners and the teams who imaged the COVID-19 virus!
How Will You Make an Impact?:
Thermo Fisher Scientific Hillsboro campus is on the cutting edge of global technology in pursuit of enabling our customers to make the world a Healthier, Cleaner and Safer place.
A Day in the Life:
  • Conduct assembly, alignments, and final configurations of components.
  • Conduct assembly work applying prescribed methods using a variety of hand tools, fixtures, and test equipment.
  • Collect test data, use databases and other office programs to document the manufacturing process.
  • Participate in resolving production challenges and making process decisions.
  • Assist in the selection and/or set-up of specialized equipment.
  • Perform a wide variety of troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues.
  • Perform equipment set-up, calibration, and preventative maintenance.
  • Follow audit and safety guidelines.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
  • 1 year of manufacturing or mechanical assembly experience required.
  • Background in precision mechanical assembly and low-volume, sophisticated manufacturing processes required.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing, 6S and continuous improvement a plus.
  • Previous assembly experience in a Clean Room environment is a plus.
  • Experience with Windows-based and MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Division-Specific Outlook and Access).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability in efficiently working in a Team of 8-10 colleagues.
  • Ability to analyze and address problems independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Ability to support projects, perform training and work efficiently as part of cohesive teams.
  • Self-motivated, self-starter with strong organizational skills.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment
  • Ability to lift-up to 35lbs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, successful in partnering with colleagues of differing cultural, language, and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to work in appropriate PPE.
