What is a 28 rotation?

A 28 Rotation job refers to a work schedule where employees typically work for 28 days straight, followed by 28 days off. This schedule is commonly used in industries like oil and gas, offshore drilling, and remote site operations. It allows for extended work periods followed by equal time off, helping workers maintain a balance between long hours on-site and personal time.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the 28 rotation position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a 28 Rotation position, you generally need a background in offshore or remote site operations, technical proficiency in your field (such as engineering or maintenance), and relevant training or certifications like offshore survival or safety courses. Familiarity with industry-standard equipment, safety protocols, and reporting systems is crucial for daily duties. Strong teamwork, resilience, and effective communication are important soft skills given the unique work schedules and isolated environments. These competencies are critical for maintaining operational safety, efficiency, and well-being during extended periods on-site followed by scheduled time off.

What can I expect from the work schedule and lifestyle in a 28 rotation role?

A 28 Rotation means you'll typically work 28 consecutive days on-site (often in remote locations or offshore) followed by 28 days off. During your on-site period, workdays can be long and demanding, with accommodation and meals provided, and close collaboration with a small, dedicated team. This schedule allows for extended time off for rest or personal activities, but requires adaptation to living away from home and maintaining work-life balance. Most people in these roles find the focused work period and lengthy breaks rewarding, as long as they're comfortable with the remote or offshore environment.
