What are 25Q soldiers in the Army?

25Q is the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) code for a Multichannel Transmission Systems Operator-Maintainer in the U.S. Army. These soldiers are responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining communication systems that transmit and receive data, voice, and video signals. They ensure that military communications remain secure and reliable across various platforms, including satellite and radio systems. This role is critical for maintaining effective command and control on the battlefield, supporting both tactical and strategic operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a 25Q (Multichannel Transmission Systems Operator-Maintainer), and why are they important?

To thrive as a 25Q, you need a strong understanding of electronic communications systems, basic electronics, and network fundamentals, typically gained through Army technical training. Familiarity with radio, satellite, and multiplexing equipment, as well as secure communications protocols, is essential, and certifications like CompTIA Network+ are highly valued. Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure are critical soft skills in this position. These abilities ensure reliable and secure communication channels, which are vital for mission success and operational safety.
