Job Summary

Responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of production operations. Responsible for overseeing and managing production shift employees and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and quantity standards.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Oversees production operations on the assigned shift.

  • Prepares work schedules to ensure efficient operations.

  • Maintains knowledge of processes and equipment.

  • Ensures that products are identified, weighed, and warehoused correctly.

  • Troubleshoots issues that arise.

  • Works collectively with scheduling, purchasing, shipping, maintenance, and customer service to ensure a cost-effective product delivered on-time.

  • Works with supervisor to drive plant metrics scorecards while maintaining appropriate headcount, efficiency, spending, and budget adherence.

  • Establishes measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

  • Ensures that employees comply with applicable safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

Nature and Scope

  • Experience provides solutions.

  • Ensures that work is performed consistently with company policies and procedures.

  • Leads a group or team of support, craft, or lower level professional associates.

Work Environment

  • Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors, such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking and/or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
