Job description

Summary of Position

Under the direction of the Brookfield Shipping Supervisor, Packer is to prepare customer orders for shipment. May also be involved in the order selection of Standard tool orders and the inventory verification and placement of incoming stock into proper locations

Principal Responsibilities

  • Pull, pack, verify and ship customer orders for Standard Tool catalog items.
  • Operate SAP EWM system by utilizing hand held scanner to verify customers order and to maintain inventory items.
  • Package and label "Specials" tool orders, verify quantity and shipping information, band and transfer to packing line.
  • Verify counts and place incoming inventory items in proper storage locations.
  • Operate UPS shipping computer and scale to weigh and label sealed packages.
  • Place all outgoing packages into proper shipping container for pick-up by contract carrier.
  • Daily cleaning of work area to maintain clean, orderly and safe working conditions.

Education

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Skills/experience

  • Must be able to read and understand written instruction attached to customer order form.
  • Must have appropriate math skills to verify quantities.
  • Must have basic computer skills with ability to enter shipping data, generate customer labels, locate stock locations and enter inventory amounts for incoming stock.
  • Must be able to type and spell accurately to enter detailed shipping information and verify accuracy.
  • Continuous standing and walking in warehouse environment.
  • Frequent use of arms and hands to lift, carry, reach, place, pull containers weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequent bending and stretching to place or remove items from storage racks and to obtain necessary supplies.
  • Above average hand-eye coordination to package and label product, form and close shipping containers.
  • Must be able to safely handle customer orders without causing injury or damage.
  • May be required to use ladder or moveable stairs to reach high storage locations.
  • Must be able to understand a variety of written instructions and interpret unique directives for specific customers and situations.
  • Must be able to count and verify accuracy of large quantity orders.
  • Must be able to make independent judgements regarding appropriate packaging materials.
