Machine Operator – Grind L / Roll: Rockford, Illinois
Our customer in Rockford, Illinois is looking for a hardworking, detail-oriented individual to join their team as a Machine Operator – Grind L / Roll to work full-time on 2nd shift. In this role, you will support production by operating roll threading and grinding equipment used on large, heavy workpieces while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities of the Machine Operator – Grind L / Roll:
  • Set up Grind L and Roll equipment by following setup sheets and loading appropriate dies and tooling.
  • Operate and maintain roll threading and grinding machines to prepare bar stock for roll threading.
  • Load raw materials into machines using lifts and overhead cranes as required.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure tolerances and quality standards are maintained.
  • Inspect parts throughout production using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Document daily production activity, machine performance, quality results, and material usage in the ERP system.
  • Work with maintenance teams to troubleshoot mechanical issues and reduce downtime.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace using 5S standards.
Machine Operator – Grind L / Roll Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Ability to safely operate required hand tools and production equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Basic math skills required for measurements and calculations.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a production environment with heavy materials and machinery.
