Summary


The 1st Engineer is responsible for supporting the engine room operations and maintenance on a luxury
yacht, ensuring the smooth functioning of all machinery, systems, and technical operations. This role
involves working closely with the Vice Chief Engineer, managing technical teams, overseeing machinery
maintenance, and supporting the Engine Room Resource Management (ERM) processes. The 1st
Engineer contributes to operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and guest experience, ensuring the
yacht operates at the highest standards of performance and luxury. The 1st Engineer on FS1 is
responsible for the maintenance of the hotel machineries including laundry, galley, etc.

Ability to lead and guide the engine department, fostering teamwork and maintaining high
performance.

Prioritize ensuring that technical systems support a seamless and luxurious guest experience at all

Operational Oversight:
Demonstrated experience overseeing engine room operations, ensuring the yacht's systems are
running smoothly and efficiently.

Strong understanding of quality assurance, safety protocols, and compliance with regulations.

Yacht Integration:

Education
Relevant certifications such as STCW III/2 with propulsion machinery of 3,000 kW or more.

Experience
Proven experience in marine engineering, particularly on luxury yachts or large vessels.
Strong knowledge of Engine Room Resource Management (ERM) and Planned Maintenance
Systems (PMS).
Familiarity with regulatory requirements, quality management systems (QMS), and environmental
compliance.
Travel
Flexibility to travel and work aboard the yacht for extended periods.


Key Activities


Engine Room Maintenance
Perform and oversee the maintenance of engine room equipment that cannot be addressed during
regular watch duties.
Support maintenance efforts in collaboration with the Maintenance and Workshop Technician,
ensuring efficient segregation of maintenance duties and watch responsibilities.
Ensure that maintenance activities comply with the company's Engine Room Resource Management
(ERM) standards.


Compliance & Reporting
Maintain strict compliance with all company protocols, including Engine Room Resource
Management (ERM) and other relevant safety standards.
Ensure timely and accurate entries in logbooks, oil record books, and other technical documentation
in line with regulatory and company requirements.
Report maintenance progress, issues, and concerns to the Staff Chief Engineer and other relevant
stakeholders.


Daily Operations & Communication
Participate in daily engine officer's morning meetings to provide status updates on machinery and
system performance.
Communicate effectively with the engine department and other teams to ensure smooth coordination
of technical activities and guest services.


Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
Enforce and adhere to HESS-MS (Health, Environment, Safety, and Security Management System)
regulations within the engine department.
Participate in or delegate relevant training sessions on health, safety, and environmental compliance
for engine department staff.
Ensure all operations comply with the yacht's environmental protection protocols, including waste
management and energy efficiency.


Operational Oversight & Guest Experience
Support operational efficiency by ensuring that machinery and systems are well-maintained,
minimizing any risk of disruption to guest services.
Proactively identify and troubleshoot technical issues to ensure that the yacht remains operational at
all times.
Ensure that all technical operations align with the goal of delivering an exceptional guest experience.


External Coordination & Dry Docks
Assist in planning and evaluating dry dock activities and external service/repair requirements.
Support the Vice Chief Engineer in coordinating with external contractors and vendors to ensure
repairs are completed in accordance with company standards.


Quality and Learning Management
Comply with the company's Quality Management System (QMS) and Learning Management System
(LMS) requirements to ensure high standards of performance and ongoing professional
development.
Ensure technical staff under your supervision are receiving the necessary training and development
to perform their roles safely and efficiently.
