Job description

Tampa General Hospital is seeking a Anesthesia Technician for a job in Spring Hill, Florida.

The Anesthesia Technician assists the anesthesia team prior to, during, and following patient procedures in various Operating rooms across Tampa General Hospital North. Individuals in this position are proficient in the sterilization, maintenance, packing, and resupplying of the most complex anesthesia supplies and equipment in the operating room, and when available, responds to codes with anesthesia. This Anesthesia Technician works collaboratively with Anesthesia, Nursing staff, and off-site resources. 

Essential Functions
•    Maintain inventory levels of anesthesia equipment and supplies, including anesthesia carts, emergency airway carts, and the anesthesia supply areas.
•    Prepares, cleans, sterilizes, and maintains reusable anesthesia equipment and supplies according to established standard. Coordinates anesthesia equipment maintenance and repair with the Biomedical Department and service technicians, and reports equipment malfunction/failures or other unusual circumstances to OR Director.
•    Assembles and displays the necessary supplies, equipment, drugs, and monitoring equipment needed for all cases 100% of the time.
•    Correctly prepares invasive monitoring lines for use and assists the anesthesia providers when requested in accordance with standards of the anesthesia department.
•    Assists anesthesiologists with induction, spinal, epidural and regional anesthesia.
•    Assist in transporting patients and equipment as needed.
•    Accurately checks the reserve tanks of nitrous oxide, air, and oxygen on each machine to ensure that an adequate supply exists for emergency use. 
•    Replaces tanks when needed and maintains an adequate inventory in the department at all times according to established policies and procedures
•    Transports pharmacy items, central supply items, blood, and blood products in a timely manner 100% of the time and according to department procedures.
•    Participate in ongoing educational and competency verification activities applicable to anesthesia technician activities
•    Assists in room turnovers and cleaning.

Certification

  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) through American Red Cross or American Heart Association
