Job description

Express Employment Professionals of LAX/Hawthorne is seeking an Part Time Maintenance/Operations Technician for the LAX Automated People Mover (LAX APM).

Hours: Various shifts (including weekends and holidays) 2nd & 3rd Shift 

Pay Rate: Starts at $22.50+ yo to 30.15 (Must Have Open Availability)

Job Description for Operations Technician:

  • Perform recovery and basic maintenance on trains and equipment, including inspections of brakes, HVAC, air compressors, and other components.
  • Recommend improvements based on maintenance, inspection, or troubleshooting.
  • Follow safety procedures and technical guidelines for repairs and equipment maintenance.
  • Operate trains and ensure they are serviceable before passenger service.
  • Respond to emergencies and equipment failures promptly.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay current with maintenance and safety standards.
  • Record maintenance activities in work orders/forms.
  • Follow safety and security procedures to maintain a safe and reliable fleet.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

Minimum Requirements for Operations Technician:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient in the English Language
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have normal color vision
  • Must be able to work variable hours and shifts
  • Basic mechanical or maintenance experience, understanding of use with general hand tools
  • Basic computer skills, including a working knowledge of MS Office programs

Minimum Physical Requirements for Operations Technician:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, bend, stoop and hear
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds
  • May occasionally be required to climb steep stairs and walk long distances.
  • Work on elevated surfaces is required
  • Work may be performed inside the facility or outside in various weather elements
  • Able to observe multiple screens and monitors on a continuous basis

Preferred Qualifications for Operations Technician:

  • 2 years electrical/mechanical experience or equivalent technical school training
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of computer driven software applications
