Job description

Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company’s portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations. 

The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance General Supervisor, the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor manages a crew of technicians to ensure a safe, efficient and productive work environment, while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values. 

Essential Functions

1. Develop and assign crews to specific tasks to meet daily mine maintenance goals within the Kinross Way for Maintenance
2. Supervise crew activities during shifts to ensure safe and efficient accomplishment of assignments: Goal 70% on floor / 30% in office
3. Support team growth and technical development 
4. Foster an environment where each employee feels both valued and appreciated for their contributions
5. Works with Maintenance Personnel to ensure that all parts, special tools, and equipment necessary to complete a planned task are available and accounted for before the job commences
6. Perform daily administrative duties such as part order reviews, timecard review and approval, reports, supply requisitions, effective safety meetings, and manage daily workload
7. Maintain accurate and up to date records of work performed. Keeping daily schedules of both reactive and proactive work performed
8. Review service reports, forms and close completed jobs in JDE each shift rotation
9. This position is responsible for a staff of 7+ technicians
10. Deliver performance reviews and 1 on 1 meetings on time with direct reports
11. Ensure optimum use of facilities and equipment
12. Maintains constant communication with the Maintenance General Supervisor, and periodically updates him/her on the status of work being performed
13. Be a liaison with operations to plan, monitor, and execute maintenance, capital, and construction projects. Identify duration of maintenance or repair activity on equipment or facilities 
14.    Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills 
15.    Helps develop other department personnel to perform the duties listed above
16.    Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance
17.    Works without risk or harm to self and others
18.    Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by a state agency is required
19.    Punctuality and regular attendance required
20.    Perform other related functions as assigned by General Supervisor

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

1.  It is important that the incumbent fosters team spirit among crew members and motivates them to meet production goals.
2. Meet Kinross Way maintenance goals
3. A minimum of 5 years heavy equipment experience in a mining or construction environment with a combination of field and office work required 
4. At least three years of lead or direct supervisory experience or adequate supervisory training is required
5. Must show strong emphasis on Planned/Scheduled work practices
6. Supervises employees within Kinross/RMGC policies and procedures
7. Must be able to adapt to constant shift changes
8. General understanding of mining operations as well as limited understanding of milling, and efficient/effective understanding of maintenance operations
9. Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, dispatch, word, outlook explorer, and JD Edwards 
10. Must have strong training, verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills
11. The ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, management, vendors and/or contractors
12. Ability to work independently and as a member of the management team 
13. Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational, and technical writing skills
14. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets
