Job description

Do you know wiring, lights, sirens, or 12V vehicle electronics?

Then you might be exactly who we're looking for. Island Tech Services is hiring a full-time Auto Technician for their MD location. This role builds and custom outfits police, fire, and emergency response vehicles with the equipment first responders rely on every day.

This is hands on, fast paced work where you'll go home knowing you worked on something that actually matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform custom installations of emergency lighting, sirens, radios, partitions, and other vehicle components.
  • Wire and test electronic components to ensure proper function and safety.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and systems as needed.
  • Follow established procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Document work performed, including parts used and time spent, in accordance with company and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and team members to meet project deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and care for all tools and equipment.
  • Stay updated with the latest vehicle upfitting technology and best practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred.
  • Previous experience with vehicle upfitting, automotive electronics, or a similar field is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, wiring, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Strong attention to detail, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
