SEIU Communications Center (SEIU-CC, LLC) clients advocate for quality health care and public services in our communities, and good jobs for all. We seek candidates who are passionate about labor organizing, progressive politics, and social justice movements, and who want to make a difference.


SEIU-CC supports the American labor movement, helping our union clients to meet the challenges of organizing workers in the 21st century. We help unions across the country to grow their membership density in workplaces and to increase member political participation. The American labor movement is under constant attack from those who would undermine workers’ rights, and we are at the forefront of this fight, ensuring that working families have access to good-paying jobs, quality health care, and respect and dignity in the workplace. We are excited to open the search for new Tele-Organizers who will advance this work through telephone organizing outreach.


The primary responsibility of the Tele-Organizer is to handle phone calls, conducting organizing conversations with working people, and doing so with a level of professionalism and aptitude that exceeds our clients' expectations.


On the job, SEIU-CC Tele-Organizers (TO’s) can expect to place outbound phone calls or receive incoming phone calls. The work primarily consists of speaking to labor union members and other working people, while using a provided script, in conjunction with background and accumulated knowledge and persuasive conversational skills, to provide information, to gather information, and to make an appeal that workers should take some action.


As of Summer 2026, work is performed at our New York City headquarters, using company-provided equipment, or from our employee's chosen remote location, using employee-provided equipment and internet connectivity that meets standards.


This is a part-time, per diem position. Shifts typically run during the afternoon and evening; for example, from 3pm or 5pm until 9pm or 11pm Eastern Time / Noon or 2pm until 6pm or 8pm Pacific Time. A common weekly shift schedule is Monday - Thursday and Sunday, with Friday and Saturday off.


The pay is $23.81 per hour.


Qualifications:

  • Must have suitable voice, be articulate, enthusiastic, and represent well on the telephone
  • Must be comfortable talking to strangers, asking them to join or take some action
  • Background in organizing is ideal, priority given for experience in union organizing
  • Prior experience in outbound fundraising, sales, polling, or other persuasive work (especially on telephone or door canvass) is preferred over inbound customer service background


Job Requirements:

  • Excellent reading and speaking skills essential
  • If working from remote, unburdened high speed internet access while on shift
  • If working from remote, a laptop or desktop computer and headset with microphone
  • Fluency in modern computer use and web browser navigation
  • Perform work of a clerical nature on a computer, while speaking, for hours at a time
  • Afternoon-Evening and weekend schedule availability
