Comfort with inventory management systems, mobile reporting apps, and sometimes a valid driver’s license are typical requirements. Excellent communication, time management, and self-motivation are important soft skills for building relationships with store staff and managing an independent workload. These abilities ensure accurate product placement, timely completion of projects, and positive client and store relationships, which are critical for success in this flexible, contract-based role.

What is a 1099 merchandiser?

Unlike traditional employees, 1099 merchandisers work on a contract basis and are responsible for their own taxes and business expenses. Their tasks often include stocking shelves, building promotional displays, and ensuring products are presented according to brand guidelines.
