1099 freelance jobs refer to work performed by independent contractors, rather than traditional employees. Individuals working 1099 jobs are typically self-employed and paid per project or assignment; they receive a Form 1099-NEC from clients for tax purposes instead of a W-2. Effective time management and clear communication are essential to avoid overcommitting or missing deliverables. Freelancers must also handle their own invoicing, contracts, and tax obligations, which can add administrative workload. Building strong client relationships and setting clear expectations can help mitigate misunderstandings and ensure ongoing work.
