Job description

About the Role:

You will lead tax and compliance activities for the Association and its related organizations in the US, facilitating the expansion of tax and compliance activities given the dynamic operations of the organization. Work with external and internal partners to support strategic goals and ensure compliance both in the US and internationally. You will report to the Director - Tax & Compliance and line manage one Specialist. You will use a hybrid work schedule.

You Will:

  • Oversee preparation of the 990 and 990T, 5500 and property tax returns, ensuring accurate submissions
  • Ensure accurate US sales taxes are collected and remitted, managing the relationship with Vertex
  • Monitor sales, engaging with external tax advisors and partnering with other members of the tax team to assess compliance obligations globally
  • Research and understand applicable tax issues and to implement supporting procedures
  • Support global tax and finance projects and transformation programs
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors and compliance partners.
  • Take charge of tax audits and notices.
  • Ensure responses to governmental tax related matters.
  • Prepare tax expense budgets and forecasts, staying up to date with tax law changes affecting taxation of the organization.

You Have:

  • 5 years+ tax experience in the non-profit sector
  • Experience with a multi-state organization
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA or other relevant professional qualification
