Job description

Position: Primary Care Physician

Compensation:
We offer a competitive salary along with an annual performance bonus and regular salary increments.

Paid Time Off:
Enjoy 50-55 days of paid time off annually, which includes 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and potentially an additional 5 days for continuing medical education (CME).

Retirement Benefits:
Our organization provides a traditional federal pension plan (with a 5-year vesting period) and a federal 401K plan that includes contributions of up to 5%.

Insurance Coverage:
We offer comprehensive federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance options, many of which can be continued into retirement.

Licensure:
Candidates must possess one full and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory.

Continuing Medical Education:
Eligible for reimbursement of up to $1,000 per year for CME, provided the physician is full-time and board-certified.

Malpractice Coverage:
Liability protection is provided at no cost, including tail coverage.

Contractual Obligations:
There is no employment contract for physicians, and there are no significant restrictions on moonlighting.

Location:

Positions are available in Littleton, NH, and Newport, VT.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement the components and processes of the VHA Primary Care Medical Home (PCMH) healthcare system.
  • Coordinate care for assigned outpatient panels.
  • Evaluate and manage both acute and chronic health conditions for scheduled and unscheduled patients in a clinical environment.
  • Conduct thorough histories and physical examinations.
  • Document patient encounters, including history, findings, diagnosis, care plans, and patient disposition.
  • Ensure proper closure of patient encounters, providing lists of current medications and upcoming appointments.
  • Perform office procedures within approved privileges.
  • Prescribe medications as necessary.
  • Order and interpret routine laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic tests, communicating results to patients.
  • Address patient inquiries, including secure messaging responses.
  • Initiate or expedite requests for consultations and specialty tests.
  • Educate patients and their families as needed.
  • Order immunizations and preventive screenings as appropriate.
  • Screen patients for hospitalization needs.
  • Provide Basic Life Support when required.
  • Share clinical findings with other providers using the Computerized Patient Record System.
  • Oversee nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants as assigned.
  • Act as a preceptor for residents in the clinic setting.
  • Provide care for patients aged 18 and older.
  • Maintain courteous and respectful communication with customers, veterans, their representatives, visitors, and all staff.
  • Utilize VHA databases to identify and manage patients effectively.
  • Adhere to Medical Center Bylaws and Medical Staff Regulations.
  • Track care components electronically to enhance coordination.
  • Maximize the use of virtual care options to improve access to services.
  • Safeguard sensitive data in compliance with the Privacy Act of 1974 and other relevant regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:

The work hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Full and unrestricted medical license in any state
  • Board Certification in Hematology/Oncology
