Job description

The PCB Layout Designer will be responsible for the development and implementation of detailed printed circuit board layouts. This position requires proficiency with professional CAD software such as Altium, PADS, Xpedition, etc., and involves close collaboration with electrical design engineers, manufacturing teams, and clients to ensure a seamless transition from design to production.


PCB Layout Designer Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain PCB component libraries, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all design projects.
  • Develop and implement complete PCB layout solutions in alignment with engineering specifications and project requirements.
  • Work with cross-functional product development teams in supporting product development.
  • Generate comprehensive engineering documentation, including schematics, bills of materials, fabrication, and assembly drawings to support PCBA manufacturing.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team consisting of electrical and mechanical designers to ensure cohesive product development.
  • Maintain and update PADS libraries to reflect the latest component and design standards.
  • Oversee PCB layout development, including component placement review and approval to meet design and manufacturing standards.
  • Lead and conduct PCB layout reviews, addressing high-speed design considerations such as crosstalk, signal integrity, and best practice layout strategies.
  • Prepare project quotations and estimates based on customer specifications and engineering team direction.
  • Keep up to date on the high-speed design techniques, including PCB material selection, layer construction, and manufacturing guidelines, and implement them into the design as applicable.
  • Support component selection and qualification processes through collaboration with hardware engineering teams.
  • Participate in departmental and program-level meetings to maintain alignment and communication across teams.

PCB Layout Designer Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant career experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in CAD-related software (Altium, PADS, Xpedition, etc.)
  • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to adapt to diverse product domains, including military, medical, consumer, and industrial electronics.
