As a member of our support team, you'll help our organization create loved restaurant experiences every day. You'll lead the maintenance, repair and capital improvement efforts across our restaurants, partnering with restaurant operations leaders and trusted vendors to ensure every location remains safe, reliable and of distinctively high quality.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, proactive, technically knowledgeable and energized by solving problems big and small. Supporting 17 (and counting!) restaurants, you'll oversee the maintenance, financial, administrative and day-to-day operational needs of our facilities while building the systems needed to support our continued growth for years to come.

Core Responsibilities at Northstar Restaurant Group + Brassica

  • Oversee maintenance and repair activities across all restaurants.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for escalations and questions related to facility operations.
  • Evaluate whether repairs should be completed internally or by a specialized vendor or contractor.
  • Build and manage relationships with vendors, ensuring high-quality work and responsiveness.
  • Negotiate service agreements and oversee vendor performance.
  • Develop long-term replacement plans for equipment and facility assets.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs for commercial kitchen equipment, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical and other critical building systems.
  • Manage multi-state regulatory inspections, including fire suppression, hood cleaning, grease traps and backflow testing, ensuring compliance with health department, fire, OSHA and local building requirements.
  • Support the evaluation of each restaurant's facilities in biannual reviews.
  • Coordinate facility improvements, remodels, equipment installations and capital projects in partnership with operations, construction and finance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, energy efficiency and operating costs.
  • Maintain accurate records for inspections, permits, warranties, service history, asset inventories and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Lead hands-on training sessions to educate operations teams on building systems and facility infrastructure.
  • Evaluate, implement and manage a computerized maintenance management system to plan, track, and optimize preventative maintenance and facility work.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in facilities management, restaurant operations, commercial maintenance, construction or a demonstrated track record of excellence in school and early career roles.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial building systems, including: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, commercial kitchen equipment, fire suppression systems, roofing and general building maintenance.
  • Demonstrated success managing contractors, vendors, landlords, and service agreements.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to set clear expectations and hold partners accountable to high standards of quality, safety and execution.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and TeamGantt.
  • Hands-on maintenance experience with the ability to troubleshoot and complete minor repairs safely and effectively.
  • Willingness to learn and understand operations by completing a portion of initial training and onboarding in our restaurants.
  • Comfortable working on-site at our support office or restaurants, including moving quickly, standing for extended periods and climbing ladders.
  • Ability to travel as needed, with schedule flexibility that supports operations outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends.

Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health, vision and dental insurance, 401k with company match, HSA, paid vacations + sabbaticals, complimentary and discounted meals, short and long-term disability, paid parental leave, and an active lifestyle benefit.
