Job description

CAS is currently seeking an Enterprise Compute Platform Engineer. This hybrid position will be located in our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.
Platform Architecture & Engineering
  • Architect, implement, and continuously improve a highly available, secure, and scalable enterprise compute platform.
  • Function as the recognized technical authority for Windows Server, Microsoft 365, and VMware, providing consultation across support units and development teams.
  • Contribute to modernization efforts, including hybrid cloud integration, evaluating options and recommending strategies aligned to organizational goals.
  • Champion automation-first practices and Infrastructure as Code across the infrastructure organization.
  • Serve as the team's PowerShell subject matter expert (SME), establishing scripting standards, reusable automation frameworks, and best practices.
  • Design, develop, and maintain PowerShell-based automation solutions that improve operational efficiency, consistency, and service reliability.
  • Mentor team members on automation techniques and PowerShell development.

Automation & Operational Excellence
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities that reduce manual effort and improve service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain automated provisioning, configuration management, patching, and reporting solutions.
  • Support ongoing efforts to leverage emerging technologies, including AI-assisted operational tools where appropriate.
  • Integrate automation capabilities into monitoring, ticketing, and operational workflows.
  • Continuously evaluate processes and recommend improvements to increase scalability and efficiency.

Reliability Engineering & Support
  • Serve as the Tier 2/3 escalation point, exercising independent judgment to resolve complex incidents and proactively address issues before they impact users.
  • Fulfill complex service requests, independently managing scope, timelines, and delivery expectations.
  • Maintain and enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide production 24x7 support coverage, when required, and support weekend implementations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and typically a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or 3 years with a master's degree; and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft 365, VMware, infrastructure automation, and enterprise systems administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and drive operational improvements.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve complex technical problems independently.

Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Windows Server ecosystem, including Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with VMware enterprise virtualization technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with Azure cloud infrastructure and services, including M365 and Azure
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting or programming language especially PowerShell
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, and automated deployment practices.
  • Experience with AI-assisted scripting or code generation tools and the ability to identify and implement use cases where AI improves operational efficiency and reliability.
  • Familiarity with natural language interfaces for operational automation, including copilots and chat-based operations platforms.
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring, observability, and automated remediation solutions.
