Associate VP & Chief Commercial Officer/Chief Revenue Officer

Job Description

The Associate Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer/Chief Revenue Officer is a senior executive leader responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive revenue growth strategy for the Department of Athletics and Buckeye Enterprises at The Ohio State University. Reporting to the Athletic Director, with a dotted reporting line to the Sr Vice President & CFO, and serving as a member of the executive leadership team, the CRO oversees or collaborates with all revenue-generating business functions and key 3rd party contracts. The CRO drives innovation, fan engagement, commercial partnerships, and business development to maximize and diversify revenue streams while strengthening the Ohio State athletics brand and supporting student-athlete success. This role collaborates closely with university leadership, internal staff, corporate partners, and external stakeholders to establish short- and long-term revenue goals, enhance revenue opportunities at entertainment and hospitality events, evaluate market opportunities, develop new business models, and optimize existing operations. The successful candidate will bring strategic vision, strong business and financial acumen, entrepreneurial leadership, and a proven ability to build relationships, lead high-performing teams, and drive sustainable growth in a complex and evolving environment. Title could also be Chief Commercial Officer depending on the situation.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced degree in relevant field may be required.
  • 8 years of relevant experience required.
  • 12 or more years of relevant experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Marketing, or Sport Management.
  • Advanced degree in relevant field preferred.
  • 8 years of relevant experience required.
  • 12 or more years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Extensive experience working with Division 1 Athletic program or similar industry.
  • Experience working with NCAA rules and regulations, familiarity with athletics revenue generation, marketing, and/or external operations.
  • Candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
