Position Summary: JMT is currently seeking a full-time Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our companywide geotechnical design practice. This position is based in our newly relocated and growing office in the Easton area of Columbus, OH. This position will support a variety of project types including many high-profile projects across our company footprint in our highways, bridges, aviation, rail & transit, marine and ports, water and wastewater, dams and levees, and buildings and facilities markets. Some of our notable ongoing projects include Greendale Levee Greendale, IN; Long Bridge North in Washington DC/Northern Virginia; I-95 Electronic Toll Lanes and the Harry W Nice/Thomas "Mac" Middelton Bridge Replacement both in Maryland and Alexandria Waterfront Design-Build Improvements in Virginia. This position will also support highway and bridge projects throughout the states of Ohio and Pennsylvania for ODOT, PennDOT and other transportation clients.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for management and oversight of geotechnical investigations
  • Development and implementation of subsurface investigation programs consisting of test borings, cone penetrometer, dilatometer and geophysical surveys
  • Perform engineering analysis of soils and rock, for design of shallow and deep foundation systems, slope stability, excavations, permanent and temporary retaining systems, dewatering systems and soil improvement
  • Preparation of geotechnical reports and memoranda
  • Preparation of construction documents including plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Responsible for responses to requests for qualifications and proposal
  • Assist in marketing efforts for growth and development of the geotechnical engineering practice in the Ohio and Pennsylvania Region
  • Conduct and manage on-site geotechnical inspection and engineering services during construction
