Form Maker I
Allied Mineral Productsis a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories worldwide, headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.
We are looking for energetic, motivated and results-driven individuals to join our Shapes Team.
Shift: Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm
Pay starts at $21.25
PLUS $750 sign on bonus.
Job Summary
Skilled manual tasks involving considerable physical effort creating casting forms using wood, rubber, steel, plastic and Styrofoam
Utilizes blueprints and sketches along with a variety of measuring and hand tools and power tools to create shape and finish forms. Verification and confirmation of forms to required specifications. Repair forms as necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Under constant guidance from management or a more skilled Form Maker, learn the form making processes.
  • Always have sketches and designs approved by more skilled employee before creating a form.
  • Always have each step completed in the form making process checked and approved by a more skilled employee before proceeding to the next step in the process.
  • Observe and learn from more skilled employees in the act of designing and making forms.
  • Measure and inspect completed forms for accuracy versus engineering print.
  • On an on-going basis, learn new skills and be exposed to more complex shapes and designs.
  • As needed, assist production in any work required.
  • Determine production requirements for the day.
  • Review the blueprint/sketch of shape specifications.
  • Design the form to meet the shape specifications. Make a sketch using exact measurements, keeping in mind that often the form specs are in reverse of the final shape.
  • Construct the form using hand tools and power tools. Also, may use various glues, adhesives and other bonding agents as well as screws, bolts and other fasteners. Materials used to construct the form may include wood, rubber, steel, plastic and/or Styrofoam.
  • Pass form off to production for QA check and final casting.
  • As required by production based on QA checks or problems, repair forms using hand tools and power tools and necessary materials typically used in constructing the form.

Qualifications
  • Must have good mathematical, measuring, design and eye-hand coordination skills.
  • Working knowledge of building supplies and use of hand tools, power tools and building techniques.
  • Previous experience in form making with concrete or other materials preferred.
  • Must have good work performance and attendance record.

Working Environment
  • The job is in a dusty and dirty environment.
  • Working in a hot and/or cold environment.
  • Required to wear respirator, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to qualify for and wear a respirator.
  • Considerable physical effort creating casting forms using wood, rubber, steel, plastic and Styrofoam.
