Oncology / Mixed Acuity Pc And Ms Unit

Experience: Must have MS and oncology experience in checklist (1 year minimum). Heme Onc experience is strongly preferred. Chemo certification is NOT required.

Patient Diagnoses:

  • Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL)
  • Acute Myeloid Leukemia (Adult)
  • Amyloidosis
  • Aplastic Anemia
  • Chronic Leukemia
  • Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)
  • Chronic Myeloid (Myelogenous) Leukemia
  • Hodgkin's Lymphoma
  • Multiple Myeloma
  • Myelodysplastic Syndrome
  • Myeloproliferative Disorders
  • Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma

Special Procedures/Unit Details:

  • Autologous Transplants: Patients receive their own stem cells.
  • Syngeneic Transplants: Patients receive stem cells from their identical twin.
  • Allogeneic Transplants: Patients receive stem cells from their sibling, parent, or an unrelated donor.

Certifications Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred Certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification

Oncology Certified Skills Required:

  • MS/Tele (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry)
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response Teams
  • Feeding tube care and management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line blood draw
  • Peripheral line care/management
  • PICC line management
  • Nasal cannula administration

If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on the department's needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time.
