Imaging Specialist - Vascular Sonographer

Position Summary

Perform noninvasive vascular diagnostic testing per IAC Accreditation Standards specific to veins and arteries, including but not limited to upper and lower extremity venous, carotid, abdominal vascular, and pulse volume recordings. Report critical findings to ordering physician and/or vascular surgeon. Function within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, physicians, nurses, and other health care staff
  • Verify patient identification, obtain pertinent health history, and explain procedure to patient clearly
  • Use advanced judgment to determine if the procedure is sufficient for proper diagnosis or further imaging procedures are needed
  • Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
  • Assists in all aspects of training new staff and vascular ultrasound students
  • Maintain registry status through self-motivated education
  • Take part in re-accreditation process

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited Vascular Sonography program.
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) from the American Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
  • Basic Life Support Certification
  • LMH is accredited by DNV and TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.
