Detailed description

Scope of responsibilities and accountability:

  • Practices within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act and approved OGGI policies and procedures.
  • Assures quality patient care throughout the fibro scan testing experience.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with physicians, managers, and peers.
  • Maintains work environment by performing proper and safe care and of fibro scan equipment.
  • Follows infections control standards at all times
  • Reports directly to Director of Nursing and/or designee.

Major activities and essential job functions:

  • Responsible for the scheduling and performance of Fibro Scan tests for patients.
  • Tests equipment prior to either procedure to ensure it is working properly.
  • Properly cleans and disinfects/sterilizes accessories used during the procedure.
  • Calls technical support for any issues with fibro scan equipment.
  • Ensures test results are reviewed by physicians in a timely manner
  • Maintains equipment records
  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels, assisting with ordering and practice cost containment.
  • Secures and restock rooms with supplies/accessories
  • May gather initial patient information questions such as patient complaint, known allergies, may help patient undress and dress, may take and record vital signs, assist with patient discharge as needed
  • Responsible for protecting confidential and/or privileged information according to office policy. Promotes and supports patient/family-centered care.
  • Adheres to infection control principles and applies universal precautions according office standards.
  • Will work with EMR (electronic medical records) including accessing the electronic chart, documenting, scanning
  • Functions as a liaison between patients/families, nursing staff, physicians, physician offices or other centers
  • Performs other duties as assigned
