Job description

Overview

The Safety Coordinator assists the Safety Director with the day-to-day execution of company safety programs. Working across active jobsites and the office, this role conducts field safety audits, delivers new-hire and ongoing safety training, participates in incident and OSHA investigations, and builds internal and external relationships that promote a strong safety culture. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction safety professional to grow within a well-established mechanical contractor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field safety audits and jobsite inspections; identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Perform new-employee safety orientations and onboarding.
  • Assist with and lead safety training initiatives, including toolbox talks and program rollouts.
  • Participate in incident, accident, and OSHA investigations, including root-cause analysis and documentation.
  • Recommend disciplinary actions for safety violations in line with company policy.
  • Support OSHA compliance and jobsite safety recordkeeping.
  • Build internal and external relationships that promote workplace safety.
  • Perform additional safety-related duties as assigned by the Safety Director.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction industry, OR a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health (or a closely related field).
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (OSHA 30).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency with Windows software, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and email.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
Location Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related discipline.
  • Safety experience with a mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or specialty trade contractor.
  • Additional certifications such as OSHA 500, First Aid/CPR, or CHST.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to climb and work at heights, crawl, and access confined spaces (cannot be claustrophobic).
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to walk active construction sites and be exposed to varying jobsite and weather conditions.
