DCS operates Day Reporting Centers, which are alternatives to incarceration that address Substance Use Disorders in the Criminal Justice System. Random drug screening is a vital part of the treatment process.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision, prepares media and/or reagents for use in performing routine analysis of samples. Performs laboratory tests and procedures under appropriate supervision. Operates and assists in maintaining lab equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Works in close cooperation with counselors and community supervision officers to analyze client urine specimens for the presence of drugs and alcohol for individuals who are under DCS supervision and are enrolled in substance use-related programming.

  • Successfully completes laboratory aide/operator certification training and is able to testify to certification and lab integrity during court proceedings, including revocation hearings.

  • Demonstrates initiative and the ability to work independently, effectively managing tasks and responsibilities with minimal supervision.

  • Work as a lead lab operator in the collection of information and samples, preparing secured samples for analysis, logging donor information, and results into case management systems.

  • Maintain lab equipment and inventory through quarterly orders.

  • Ensures the analyzer is functioning properly through calibration, daily quality control checks, and by performing all daily, weekly, and monthly tasks according to maintenance schedules.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED.
