Job description

Telemetry Technician

Night shift 24 - 36 hrs per week

Job Description Summary:

Monitors and records data from medical equipment to ensure proper functioning and patient safety. Responsible for equipment maintenance.

Essential Functions:
  • Maintain appropriate heart rhythm tracing.
  • Recognizes normal heart rhythm, artifact, and life threatening heart rhythms.
  • Respond to all monitor alarms, report heart rhythm changes to RN or MD promptly.
  • Clean, maintain, and inventory all equipment associated with cardiac monitors and other equipment as assigned.
  • Precepts new employees, ability to educate other employees on correct usage of both telemetry and bedside monitors
Education Requirement:

High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

Certifications:

Current CPR certification (BLS-Health Care Provider), required.

Skills:
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to identify abnormal rhythms and or changes in rhythms preferred
Experience:

Previous health care experience as a Nursing Assistant, Unit Coordinator, Medical Assistant, nursing student, EMT, Medic or experience with cardiology patients, required.

Physical Requirements:

OCCASIONALLY: Computer skills, Decision Making, Lifting / Carrying: 0-10 lbs, Lifting / Carrying: 11-20 lbs, Lifting / Carrying: 21-40 lbs, Loud Noises, Machinery, Patient Equipment, Problem solving, Standing, Walking

CONTINUOUSLY: Audible speech, Hearing acuity, Interpreting Data, Peripheral vision, Seeing – Far/near, Sitting
