Job description

Position Summary: The quality control project engineer is responsible for ensuring that quality control systems in place at TP Mechanical are followed and maintained. This specialist’s job description involves the inspection and documentation of finished and semi-finished products to ensure that they comply with agreed upon standards and specifications. The quality control specialist keeps records of equipment deliveries, inspects systems installed, identifies supplier problems with respect to quality and delivery, and recommends actions to solve these problems if necessary.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Inspects and tests manufactured products
  • Trains and assist other inspectors with their duties, as needed
  • Visually inspects products and materials according to specifications to ensure conformity to established standards, using a variety of measuring instruments, calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Conducts standardization tests on raw materials in order to establish their physical properties or composition, such as tensile strength or powder density
  • Compare product samples with specifications to ensure conformance with established standards when necessary
  • Perform precision tests on products to determine their suitability for further construction processes, such as metal casting or machining
  • Adjusts machine-controlled devices that control material flow in construction processes
  • Determines the extent of damage in unfinished or defective parts by examining them with electronic measuring devices and comparing their extent to specifications or blueprints
  • Prepares inspection reports and logs that show the details of all tests performed in the previous day or week, including the results of each test, the date, and an estimate of the amount of time required to perform certain tests.
  • Overseeing a Quality Control Program for the HVAC product line to improve product quality and provide QC records as required.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings, sketches, or diagrams and developing or implementing programs to address production, materials, safety, or quality issues.
  • Operating QC inspection equipment on-site or off-site and conducting quality control tests to ensure consistent production quality.
  • Collecting and analyzing data related to quality and leading the QC team in absence of the QC Manager or Engineer.
  • Monitoring and auditing suppliers to include on-site visits to supplier sites and overseeing inspections of raw products or equipment.
  • Developing and maintaining spreadsheets for evaluating or reporting QC data.
  • Complying with established safety policies and procedures and wearing required Personal Protective Equipment as directed.
  • Providing feedback related to hazard assessments and/or accident investigations and acting in accordance with company policies.
  • All other duties as assigned.



Qualifications and Experience:

Experience/Qualifications Required:

· Minimum 1-year mechanical experience and/or related educational background.

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

· Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation.

Education:

· Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or equivalent is preferred.
