Summary:

Business analyst supporting the Physical Channels Distribution Strategy team within Strategic Distribution, accountable for defining the distribution strategy for retail branches and ATMs.  Candidate will support Distribution Strategy's efforts to develop the strategic framework, methodologies and analytical tools used to assess market opportunity and determine the optimal distribution network given the market and changing customer behaviors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Data & Analytics team to define and refine the strategic framework and methodologies used to assess market attractiveness/opportunity and network effectiveness.
  • Drive market analysis to identify business opportunities and trends.
  • Collaborate with the Retail Network Planning & Execution team to define use cases for statistical models and analytical tools needed to determine optimal location coverage.
  • Own development of insights on competitive positioning and market dynamics.
  • Deliver financial analysis of large-scale strategic Distribution initiatives as well as financial modeling for individual branch/ATM actions.
  • Key partner in M&A efforts via assessment of the Distribution network of target banks to determine the optimal proforma network.
  • Create CEO and Board-level executive communications articulating the Physical Channel Network strategy and performance.
  • Minimal travel (~1 day per month).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in data analysis and business intelligence in financial services or retail (brick & mortar and/or on-line).
  • Bachelor's degree in business finance, economics or equivalent.
  • Experience with additional data/reporting tools such as Python, VBScript, and / or Tableau are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills - able to apply such skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Show demonstrated ability to frame up the question or problem, perform relevant analysis, and succinctly present a recommendation.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable synthesizing large data sets.
  • Familiarity with demographic data sets, census data, etc. and with leading Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications, including ESRI is a plus.
  • Core financial modeling skills, including discounted cash flow valuation, trend analysis, scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and NPV/rate of return.  Make fact-based assumptions that drive cost/benefit analysis.
  • Must have technical aptitude with the ability to learn new software and apply new tools.
  • Proven ability to work independently and/or collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment, displaying high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
