Job description

Genesis10 is currently seeking a QA Automation Engineer for a Contract-to-Hire position with a Regional Financial Institution located in Columbus, OH, Minnetonka, MN, or Dallas, TX. This is a hybrid opportunity with 4 days onsite, 1 day remote per week.
Compensation: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour, W2, based on qualifications
Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced QA Automation Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Python, Pytest, and API automation testing. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing requirements, developing and maintaining automation test scripts, executing functional and integration tests, analyzing failures, managing defects, and supporting software releases across the complete automation-testing lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze business, functional, and technical requirements and create appropriate test scenarios and test cases
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Python and Pytest
  • Develop and maintain reusable automation-framework components, fixtures, utilities, and test data
  • Perform REST API testing and automate API test cases
  • Validate API requests, responses, status codes, headers, JSON/XML payloads, and error scenarios
  • Perform functional, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end testing
  • Test APIs routed through an API gateway and validate integrations with downstream systems
  • Validate authentication and authorization scenarios, including OAuth, JWT, bearer tokens, and 401/403 responses
  • Use Postman or SoapUI for API testing and troubleshooting
  • Execute automated test suites through Jenkins or another CI/CD platform
  • Generate and review automation reports using Allure, Pytest HTML, or a similar reporting tool
  • Perform database validation using SQL queries
  • Create and maintain test cases, test data, execution results, and supporting documentation
  • Identify, document, track, and retest defects
  • Participate in requirement reviews, project meetings, defect-management meetings, and release activities
  • Support software releases, production validation, and post-deployment testing

Primary Requirements:
  • Minimum of five years of hands-on automation-testing experience
  • Strong, recent programming experience with Python
  • Strong, recent hands-on experience with Pytest
  • Demonstrated experience building, maintaining, or significantly extending an automation framework
  • Experience creating reusable Pytest fixtures, utilities, modules, and test-data components
  • Strong REST API testing and API automation experience
  • Experience automating APIs using Python libraries such as requests
  • Experience performing both manual and automated testing
  • Hands-on experience with Postman, SoapUI, ReadyAPI, or a comparable API-testing tool
  • Experience validating JSON and XML payloads
  • Experience with Jenkins or another CI/CD platform
  • Experience with Git or another source-control system
  • Experience with SQL and database validation
  • Experience testing API gateways, microservices, or downstream system integrations
  • Understanding of authentication and authorization testing
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause-analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in an Agile environment
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment sponsorship

Desired Skills:
  • Experience testing document-generation, document-management, correspondence, or document-delivery services
  • Experience validating document-related APIs across web, mobile, email, print, or other delivery channels
  • Experience with OAuth, JWT, bearer tokens, and negative authorization testing
  • Experience with Allure, Pytest HTML, or a comparable automation-reporting tool
  • Experience with JMeter, k6, or another performance-testing tool
  • Knowledge of TDD, BDD, or ATDD practices
  • Experience testing cloud-based or containerized applications
  • Experience with complex microservice architectures and enterprise system integrations
  • Relevant software-testing certifications
