Job Title: Prior Authorization Representative

Location: Remote (Columbus, OH)

Compensation: $20-22/HR

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, shift between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM (8-hours).

Job Description

We are seeking experienced Prior Authorization Representatives who thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment. In this role, you will manage insurance authorization requests, work within payer systems, maintain accurate documentation, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely processing of medication approvals. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable meeting productivity goals while delivering high-quality work.


Qualifications

  • Previous prior authorization experience strongly preferred.
  • Candidates with retail pharmacy, pharmacy technician, medical office, or healthcare insurance experience will also be considered.
  • Familiarity with insurance portals and healthcare documentation.
  • Understanding of pharmacy and medical insurance terminology.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations related to medication processing.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Self-starter who is coachable, dependable, and able to work independently.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process and manage prior authorization requests through insurance carrier portals.
  • Review documentation for accuracy and completeness before submission.
  • Support medication conversion and insurance approval workflows.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding requests.
  • Communicate effectively with internal team members to resolve authorization issues.
  • Participate in daily team meetings and maintain established productivity and quality standards.
  • Adhere to company policies and healthcare compliance requirements.
