Managing Director - Government, Non-Profit, and Native America Financial Services Credit Products -Team Leader is a group leadership position reporting to Corporate Banking Credit Products (First Line). This role will lead a team of Portfolio Managers (Managing Directors, Directors, Vice Presidents) as well as Associates and Analysts responsible for the management and oversight of the Government, Non-Profit and Native American Financial Services credit portfolio at Huntington Bank, including new deal execution to support the group's growth strategy. The Team Lead will serve as a subject matter expert in the Government and Non-Profit spaces (including Higher Education, Municipalities, and General Non-Profit Services companies) and work closely with the Government, Non-Profit, and Native American Financial Services Relationship Managers as well as Credit Risk to drive profitable growth while protecting the Bank. The candidate will bring extensive industry knowledge and proven leadership skills to drive portfolio risk management and deal execution, and support the strategic initiatives of the business.

Please note: Preferred locations are Houston or Dallas, TX, Columbus OH, Charlotte, NC, Atlanta, GA, or Denver, Colorado.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that work product completed by the team is of high quality and completed in accordance with applicable Bank policies, procedures & best practices.
  • Oversee timely execution of underwriting and monitoring activities.
  • Oversee portfolio administration, including management of delinquencies, collateral exceptions, borrowing base and covenant compliance, product renewals, etc., as applicable.
  • Identify and escalate emerging concerns, as appropriate.
  • Interact with senior management to promote awareness of the business and portfolio.
  • Attend client calls (virtual or in-person) with Relationship Management and other Bank partners, as applicable.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market/industry trends.
  • Provide accurate and timely front-end guidance to Relationship Management and Credit Products colleagues, drawing upon knowledge of Huntington credit policies and credit culture.
  • Actively attract, recruit, and retain top talent.
  • Motivate and manage team members to high levels of performance through proactive coaching, mentoring, feedback, and goal setting.
  • May maintain direct involvement in key client relationships, including negotiating and structuring complex transactions and credits.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required (Finance, Accounting, or related field)
  • 10 or more years of credit experience in a portfolio management / underwriting role in Government, Non-Profit, and/or Native American related industries
  • 3 or more years of experience in a management role

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or related field
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail
