JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: ย  STEM Teacher (CMS)

POSITION GOAL:ย ย ย ย 

To teach 4th-6th grade students not only through technology standards but in collaboration with other learning standards in a hands-on learning environment.ย 

  • To lead a fully-integrated learning environment where everything from the future and technology to curriculum and assessment work together to support hands-on, minds-on learning introducing problem solving, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, innovation and failing forward.ย 
  • To create lessons for 4th-6th grade students that integrate Ohio's Learning standards in technology and computer science into the curriculum along with other content areas and careers.ย 
  • To facilitateย  an environment whereย  students explore together using the tools available in the Amazon Think Big Space and utilize these skills within their traditional content classrooms.

SUGGESTED QUALIFICATIONS:ย 

  • Successful prior teaching experience.
  • Ohio Certification or License.
  • Satisfactory BCI/FBI background check

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:ย  184 day Contract, Certified Salary Schedule

EVALUATION:ย ย ย ย Evaluation by the building principal or designee which includes evaluation of successful goal achievement and an overall assessment of performance in alignment with OTES 2.0.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.01ย ย ย ย Operates and supervises the CMS Think Big Space.

1.02ย ย ย ย Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, curricular units, and projects and communicates these objectives to the students.ย 

1.03ย ย ย ย  Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward academic achievement and curriculum goals.

1.04ย ย ย ย Serves as a resource to teachers to provide STEM lessons in the classroom.

1.05ย ย ย ย Teaches students to work collaboratively to solve problems and to think logically and creatively.ย 

1.06ย  Works in partnership with teachers and staff, modeling consistent effective teaching with technology, engagement, lesson plan design, use of technology, STEM and online tools.ย 

1.07ย  Demonstrates fundamental knowledge of the connection between technology, computer science, and other fields of study.ย 

1.08ย  Understands and is able to design, develop, assess, and manage STEM learning experiences

1.09ย  Collaborates with teachers in promoting interdisciplinary STEM activities into the core curriculum.

1.10ย  Encourages teachers' involvement, empowerment, responsibility, and innovation in school improvement activities relating to STEM

1.11ย  Encourages parental and communityย  involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.

1.12ย  Pursues training and professional development in STEM to support teaching and learning.

1.13ย  Organizes, develops, and coordinates special STEM events/activities including community and evening events.

1.14ย  Coaches teachers on STEM initiatives and instructional best practices in the STEM areas.

1.16ย  Travels to professional meetings as required as well as attending CMS building staff meetings.
