Job description

General Job Description
KEP Electric is seeking a Plumbing Installation Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems on residential or commercial job sites in the greater Columbus, OH area. This is an entry-level field position ideal for someone with basic construction or plumbing experience who is dependable, safety-focused, and eager to learn.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems, fixtures, piping, and related equipment.
  • Support jobsite preparation, material handling, equipment setup, and installation activities.
  • Measure, cut, assemble, and install piping and plumbing components under supervision.
  • Read and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, work orders, and job instructions.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas in a safe and organized manner.
  • Follow company policies, safety procedures, plumbing codes, and quality standards.
  • Help track materials, maintain jobsite organization, and complete basic documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, vendors, and customers.
  • Participate in training to build plumbing knowledge and field skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous plumbing, construction, or field experience preferred.
  • Plumbing trade school, apprenticeship, certifications, or licenses preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing tools, materials, and construction practices preferred.
  • Ability to read basic work instructions, diagrams, and technical documents.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a field team.
  • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and professional conduct.
  • Ability to pass required pre-employment screenings, including background and motor vehicle record checks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English where required to perform job duties.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Must be able to work on-site and in person; this is not a remote or hybrid position.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, reach, and work throughout the day.
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors, including attics, crawlspaces, confined spaces, elevated areas, and active construction sites.
  • Exposure to weather, noise, dust, and typical jobsite conditions.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to drive or travel between job sites as needed.
  • Overtime, modified schedules, or occasional weekend work may be required.
  • Reliable attendance and dependable transportation required.
